Couple Puzzled To Receive Voter Registration Application For Dead Cat

Twelve years is quite a long time. And for Ron and Carol Tims, that’s how long it’s been since they’ve had their cat Cody in their life. But Cody lived a good life. For 18.5 years, he was their loyal and loved cat which brought them much joy. Now, he sits in a small green tin, his ashes a tribute to his life and still a part of theirs in their hearts.

On this past Wednesday, Ron went out to his front yard to fetch the mail just as he does each day. Except on that day, he was reminded of Cody in a way he never in a million years thought he would be.

There, clear as day, was an envelope addressed to “Cody Tims”—a cat. It even had a return addressed envelope. But the most puzzling part of all was that this piece of mail was not just any mail. It was an application for Cody to register to vote in the coming election. Needless to say, Cody will not be going to the polls this year!

“There’s a huge push but if they’re trying to register cats, I’m not sure who else they’re trying to register. I’m not sure if they’re trying to register dogs, mice, snakes.” — Carol Tims

The Secretary of State ensures the Tims that the application did not come from their office. They released a statement saying that:
