Cats are opportunists, and we know all know that they are master manipulators, too! For anyone that’s ever had a cat in their life, they can certainly agree to that. Cats know how to get exactly what they want, when they want, and you aren’t about to show them who’s boss. But just as cats do, they have us wrapped right around their fuzzy little paws. And naughty cats know this especially well!
For one naughty cat out of the UK, she has a whole slew of people convinced on the daily that she’s just a lonely little stray in search of her next meal. A humble store cat that’s just scraping by, but in reality, she’s got a nice home just up the road—but she’d rather hone her acting skills by pretending she’s nothing more than a stray cat!
Meet Minnie the naughty cat, and a true mastermind of feline manipulation!
According to Minnie’s owner, Andrea Blower, her cat travels on a daily basis to the Netherfield Co-op in search of free food and attention. As if her filled food bowl and the love from her family at home simply isn’t enough, Minnie has made quite the reputation for herself and garnered the attention of countless admirers. And of course, people willing to feed the little hungry tabby that’s just oh-so-cute.
If you do a quick search on Google Maps for the Netherfield Co-op, you’ll be able to see the many pics of Minnie from her countless fans!
Andrea grew tired of collecting her cat—sometimes as much as “8 times per day”—and it seems that the store doesn’t seem to mind so much about Minnie’s presence. But quickly they came up with a way to reduce the number of free meals that little Minnie receives by putting up a sign to let people know that she does in fact have a home and is just tricking you!
They fastened it to her little basket of choice complete with comfy bedding, naturally:
It seems that Minnie’s owner has come to terms with her cat’s daily outings. The feline even injured her leg attempting to escape when her owners refused to let her out when she first began these little adventures of hers.
And rather than put up a fight, Andrea allows her naughty cat to do as she pleases…
“When we go and see her at the Co-op she’s the nicest cat ever, but as soon as we get her home she’s just vile,” says Andrea Blower, Minnie’s owner. “She tricks everyone into feeling sorry for her.”
Each day, Minnie makes the short walk from her real home to her other home to greet her many fans and well-wishers.
The staff at the Co-op gave this naughty cat a bed just so she’d stop sneaking in the store. Clearly Minnie loves all the attention that she receives as well, and the store’s sales have increased as a direct result of her presence. It seems this naughty cat actress is quite the local celebrity, and her admirers often come routinely just to give her a pet…or sneak her some food.
One fan of Minnie’s, Caroline James of Netherfield, admits she frequents the store daily just to get a peek at the kitty: “I go more or less every day. If I need something I will go to the Co-op so I can see Minnie.”
Minnie, from her past life before she became famous…
The store’s supervisor, Jenny Winfield, claims that “loads of people” come in frequently just to get a chance to see the infamous naughty cat.
“We get customers coming to the counter and saying ‘Can you give this to the cat?’ and we say ‘No’.” — Jenny Winfield.
According to reports, Minnie practices safety precautions during her travels back and forth, only using the crosswalks and sidewalks. For the past year-and-a-half she’s been practicing this little routine of hers, and from the looks of it, I don’t think she’s planning to stop anytime soon!
