Often in life, we find ourselves with unlikely friends that give us more fulfillment and joy than anything could. For one feline and a meerkat living in Saint Petersburg, Russia, they are an unlikely duo that you definitely don’t see every day.
Obviously the frigid Russian climate is no place for a meerkat to live outdoors. Suria the meerkat was adopted from the Moscow Zoo, and although she’s not surrounded by other meerkats, she is surrounded by love from her human and Nice the cat she cohabitates with.
Nice is an eight-year-old Chartreux cat, and Suria is six years of age. The unlikely friends bonded without a hitch after the two were introduced when Suria was still relatively young. And now, their photos are circulating online and they’re too cute for words.
Their owner Ekaterina told Metro UK more about this precious duo that are stealing hearts on the internet:
‘When we got Suria, Nice was already living with us, they bonded straight away. Now they spend the whole day together, every day. They do everything together, eating, sleeping and playing.”
The two are always together, even when they are sleeping! And this isn’t a relationship that’s simply tolerated by the feline. Nice gravitates towards Suria and is happy to pass the time with her—even when she rides on his back!
Ekaterina says that, “Suria is definitely the most affectionate one, but Nice loves the meerkat too, he loves playing with him and licking him up. Suria is very jealous when I spend time with the cat, when I take him in my arms, she gets nervous and starts jumping trying to get him back.”
As you can see from this video below, these unlikely friends are the very best of comrades:
